Plantidote Mega-Mushroom Face Serum
When I interviewed Therese de Belder of Origins a few months ago she was very excited about the line of Dr. Weil products that they offer. Since the birth of my first child almost eight years ago I have suffered from hyperpigmentation and am always looking for products to lessen the dark spots. I've gone to dermatologists who offer Retin-A and other creams that either totally discolor my skin or seem to suck all the moisture from my face that it creates yet another issue. Needless to say I was wanting a product that could offer something real and show results.
History:
Origins asks the question, "What does a 63-year old man know about beauty?" Like most health experts, Dr. Weil knows that it's not only what we put on our skin, but also healthy living that contributes to our overall appearance. That being said, one of his main issues to counteract with this line is something he calls “the fire within." Dr. Weill believes this is a key cause of dryness, redness, hyperpigmentation, lines and wrinkles.
I've written before that when you try a new face product, you want to use it exclusively for a month or more before you can decide whether the results are really noticeable. It's taken me a while to post, as I used this product from December.
Product:
Dr. Weil's Plantidote Mega-Mushroom Face Serum, 1.7 oz, $65
This serum is pretty good. I like the packaging in the sense that it's contained in pump form so all active ingredients don't have an opportunity to degrade with each use. It contains a proprietary blend of Hypsizygus ulmarius, Cordyceps and Reishi Mushrooms, Ginger, Turmeric and Holy Basil that offer a nice scent and noticeable results. You literally use just one pump of this product twice a day after cleaning your face and you may notice results. Within two weeks, my face looked brighter and more alive.
The price is a bit much and I'm trying to decide whether it's for the product or the name. I haven't decided. It's good, it's less than going to the doctor for treatments, so ultimately purchasing will be decided on your expendable income. Because Origins is easily accessible for most since it's at local malls, it may be right up your alley.
Pros:
* Active ingredients really do help to help pigmentations appear less noticeable
* Packaging ensures that active ingredients don't degrade over time
* Easy to purchase at local stores
* Smells wonderful and requires a very small amount to get results
Cons:
* Price is a little much
Overall:
While I liked the product and love how it made my skin look and feel, there are better products on the market for less money and less hype. If you're an Origins fan, you won't be disappointed with the results with continued use. Again, my main purpose for using this product was to help decrease the appearance of dark spots on my face. I can't say how this works on wrinkles and other skin issues, though Origins reports that 84% of user's skin was "soothed and calmed", whatever that means in practical terms. You can get more information on this line at Origins website or stop by your local store.

I am on my 3rd bottle of this product. I really do love it - but everytime I pay for it, my heart hurts just a little bit. What other products would you recommend that are at a lower price point?
